Speed GPS for iPhone is an app that displays your speed, position and altitude, records your trips and shows you the sky above you. This page concerns the iPhone app only.
In short: This app creates no account, shows no advertising, contains no analytics, and sends your data to no server belonging to the developer. Your positions, trips and measurements stay on your iPhone.
Speed GPS is published by Atria.Eponym, an individual developer based in France. Contact: atria.eponym@gmail.com
The app reads the following from your iPhone, only while you are using it or during a trip you are recording:
iOS gives no access to satellites, Wi-Fi networks or Bluetooth devices in range: the app does not read them.
All of these readings. They are shown on screen and, if you record a trip, kept with it. Stored locally:
Deleting a trip in the app erases it; uninstalling the app erases all trips and preferences. The GPX files you export go through the iOS Share menu, to the app or the location you choose: they are yours.
Only three features rely on an outside service, all provided by Apple.
1. Maps and place names. The maps, Look Around and the name of the place where you are come from Apple's mapping services. To display them, iOS sends Apple the area viewed or your coordinates. This processing is governed by Apple's privacy policy. Without a connection, these features are not displayed and the rest of the app keeps working.
2. Supporting development, if you choose to. A donation goes through the App Store purchase system, without leaving the app. The payment is handled entirely by Apple: the app never sees your payment details, and no data from the app is sent in the process — not your position, not your trips. That payment is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy. This feature is entirely optional and unlocks nothing in the app.
3. Crash reports, if you have agreed. If, in the iPhone settings, you share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports on to the developer. The app itself sends none.
Apart from these three cases, nothing leaves your iPhone. The dashboard, the sky, the sensors and trip recording all work entirely offline.
The publisher runs no server and receives none of your data, so there is no database to protect, no password to steal, and no breach that could happen on the publisher's side.
The current trip can be shown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and started or stopped with Siri or the Action button. iOS handles these features on the iPhone; the app sends nothing when they are used.
You can withdraw these permissions at any time in Settings, Speed GPS. The corresponding features then stop displaying, without affecting the rest.
The General Data Protection Regulation grants you rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection over your personal data. With this app these are exercised directly on your iPhone: the developer holds no data about you, and therefore has nothing to disclose or erase. To remove everything, uninstall the app and delete any GPX files you exported.

This app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data concerning them.
This policy may change if the app changes. The last update date appears at the top of this page. Any substantial change will be noted in the release notes.
