SoundCatchinternal audio recorder and audio editor
SoundCatch is a free internal audio recorder for Windows PCs and Android. It records the sound coming out of an app, or everything the PC or phone plays, without going through the microphone. It also opens an audio file or a video to extract its sound. Then, as in an audio editor, you listen, cut out the parts you do not need and export a clean file. No ads, no account.
Free · no ads · no account · no microphone
Mac and iPhone versions: in preparation.
Record the sound of an app, on PC or on Android
Choose the app whose sound you want, or all the sound of the device, start recording, then play your track or your video. SoundCatch records only the sound played by apps: never the microphone, so neither your voice nor the noise in the room. The sound is kept in studio quality and encoded only once, at export.
On Windows PCs
- The sound of a single app (a browser, a player, music software, a game) on Windows 11, or all the PC's sound; on Windows 10, all the PC's sound.
- No virtual driver or cable to install.
- The PC's volume does not change the recorded level.
On Android
- The sound of an app, or all the phone's sound, at its original sample rate (usually 48 kHz), in 32-bit float.
- If nothing arrives after 3 seconds, the app tells you and explains why.
Android asks for your consent at each recording. Keep the screen on: Android stops the recording when the phone locks. Some apps forbid recording their sound; Android then passes on only silence.
Cut an audio file with no click at the joins
Editing is done on the waveform, with the mouse on PC and with your finger on Android: select a passage, listen to it, delete it.
- Several passages at once.
- A 20 ms crossfade at every join: the cut cannot be heard.
- A full history: undo, redo, or go back to any step.
- Suspect passages are pointed out to you: speech in the middle of music, gaps, sudden changes of loudness or timbre. You listen and you decide: nothing is cut without you.
- Silence at the start and end can be removed at export.
Extract the sound from a video
Open any audio or video file: SoundCatch keeps its sound. You then cut it like a recording and export it. Handy for preparing the soundtrack of a personal photo or video montage.
Export to MP3, AAC or FLAC
- On Windows PCs: AAC (.m4a), MP3 320 kbit/s, Apple Lossless or FLAC.
- On Android: AAC (.m4a) at 256 kbit/s, which plays almost everywhere, or lossless FLAC. MP3 is not offered there: the system has no MP3 encoder.
- The file size is shown before export, for each format.
- You choose where the file is saved.
Windows, Android, Mac and iPhone: what each version does
