SoundCatch (formerly “MP3 Universal Converter” on Mac) is an audio recorder for Mac, Windows,
iPhone and Android. It records the sound of an app, or opens an audio or video file, lets you cut parts out, then
exports a file where you decide. This page describes each version.
In short: no data collected, no account, no ads, no analytics. The app connects to
no server: the sound you record, the files you open and the files you export stay on your device.

On Mac
Audio recording: macOS asks you once for the “Audio Recording” permission. The app
captures only the sound of the app you chose, and only between the moment you click the record
button and the moment you stop it. It does not use the microphone.
Files: it reads only the files you open or drop on its window, and writes only the
exported file, in the folder you chose. Working copies are kept in macOS's temporary folder and
erased when the app closes.
List of apps: to offer the apps that play sound, it reads the list macOS keeps of
open audio apps. This list is neither stored nor sent.
Preferences: the last format, source, listening volume and export folder are kept on
your Mac, in the app's preferences. The Mac App Store version also keeps the number of successful
exports and the date of the last review request.
Review request (Mac App Store version): after the second successful export, at most
once every 120 days, the app asks macOS to show the App Store's official review window. That window
is handled by Apple; the app does not know whether you left a rating.
On Windows
An app's sound: SoundCatch captures only the sound of the app you chose (or all the PC's
sound if you choose it), and only between the moment you click the record button and the moment you
stop it. It does not use the microphone.
Files: it reads only the files you open or drop in its window, and writes only the exported
file, in the folder you chose. Working copies go to Windows' temporary folder and are deleted on close.
Preferences and rating request: as on Mac, preferences stay on your PC; the Microsoft Store
version asks Windows to show the official rating window after the second successful export, at most
once every 120 days.
No data collected, no account, no ads, no connection to any server.
On iPhone
Another app's sound: when you start the broadcast from SoundCatch, iOS hands SoundCatch's
extension the sound played by apps. It keeps only that sound; the screen image and the
microphone are dropped as they arrive. The sound is stored in SoundCatch's space on your
iPhone until you delete it.
Microphone: used only when you tap « Enregistrer avec le micro », after iOS asks for permission.
Files and videos: SoundCatch reads only the file or video you pick (iOS pickers, no access to
the whole photo library). The exported file goes where you decide (Files or share sheet); the
app keeps no copy.
No data collected, no account, no ads, no connection to any server.
On Android
Other apps' sound: when you start a recording, Android asks your consent to capture; it
requires the “Microphone” permission for this, but SoundCatch records only the sound played by apps
(music, videos, games), never the microphone. A notification stays on screen while it records.
Files: SoundCatch reads only the file you pick with Android's picker and writes the exported
file where you choose. Recordings and working copies stay in the app's private space on your phone.
No data collected, no account, no ads, no connection to any server.
What the app does not send
Nothing. It contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tool, and exchanges no data with the
publisher or with any third party.
The “Report a problem” link
This link opens your e-mail app with a message to the publisher. Nothing is sent until you send it
yourself; the publisher then receives only what you wrote and your e-mail address, and uses them only to
answer you.
Rights of the works
Record sound for your personal use and respect the rights of the works and the terms of the services
you listen to.
Your rights
As no personal data is collected, there is nothing to access, correct or delete at the publisher. For
